As Paul is writing from prison, insights given from Christ Jesus he states that we would share the suffering that we would be going through. Currently we are going through a pandemic with this virus that is taking the lives of many people, and if we don’t take action to stop the spread it might take over the whole world, but we have the Word of the truth of God to go towards for wonderful insights from His disciples like Paul or John.
Today I am going to give insight from 2 Timothy 2:1-13. But first I am going to give some background about Paul, he is currently writing from prison because he professed the Word of Christ, so he has to write scripture while he is in prison given insights from Jesus Christ to profess to the whole nation. As stated in scripture from chapter 2 he begins the passage with, You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he compares according to the rules. [verses 1-5]
In verses 1-5 Paul is telling if you witness to these people that you will be strengthened with the grace of Christ Jesus and entrust those to hear the love of Christ, and you will be able to teach others also what you have been taught from one of Paul’s many books that he wrote in the New Testament. And you will be able to share in suffering as the good soldier of Jesus Christ to share the same grief you are currently going through. An analogy with the last part of the scripture with “An athlete is not crowned unless he compares according to the rules.” You cannot finish the race the Lord Jesus gave you to complete if you lose hope in Christ Jesus.
In verse 6-13 Paul is telling us to hardly work to share the work of the crops that we work for in life we have to share the work between a group of us to split up the tasks and actions that need to be completed. In scripture verse 6-13 say “It is the hard-farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. The saying is trustworthy, for:
If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.
In this time of desperation this chapter in 2nd Timothy has alot to give insights for to use for mental support, and physical support for the day to come in to God’s word and go into prayer with him and bring prayer requests up to him, and praises up to him on what a glorious Father he has been for your life.
Pray that the virus is contained and the number of cases decreases, and pray that we can go back to the norm.
Other scriptures that connect to 2nd Timothy: 1 Corinthians 9:24-25.
Joyfully In Christ,
