Focus Verse: Matthew 6:5-15; 1 Peter 5:8
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:5-15
Reflect:
Today as I write this I think of the stuff that the world and our nation are currently going through with all of this hate and pride that people have and want. And I pray that the world goes through a revival of the power of the Holy Spirit and people’s lives are changed because of the renewing of their minds and the things that they are doing they know that are wrong to do to people. And I pray that the racism problem in the world is set to rest and Jesus please heal our land and the people that are getting fought for the color of their skin. As it says in scripture that in Genesis 1:27 at the beginning of the Word in the Pentateuch it is stated by the words of the Father, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27.
I pray that everyone in our nation who are believers come together and lift up our nation up in prayer for the racism problem, and secondly for our first responders who are working day in night to keep the people safe and heal them from any diseases.
I pray that our nation and world come together in these tough times and stand up for what they believe in and I pray that you will bring healing to our broken world and nation through the desperation of hurting and brokenness in all situations that we are currently going through.
Today as I fast from something to come to the Lord in prayer and lean on the Word of God for spiritual power for me and the things that God wants me to use from doing this fast from something I encourage for you to do the same to come to him and lean on his word for understanding, as well as fast from something like food, coffee, or social media, etc. and use that time you would be using that time to go into the Word of God and pray for the brokenness in our world and the many things that are causing us pain and hurt with the stuff that is going on with the protests that are going on throughout our world and nation.
Closing Prayer:
God, today I pray that you would work in our world and nation to bring healing to many people who are experiencing pain and suffering with the many things that are going on in our world and that you would move in people’s hearts to bring them to you to touch their hearts and that they would draw closer to you in throughout these tough times, and I pray that you show me something new as I pray and fast on the things that you bring up to my attention to use to glorify you and bring peace to the people who are currently hurting.
In Jesus Name. Amen.
